Organised criminal gangs are scouring the countryside stealing iconic Land Rover Defenders warns NFU Mutual. The cost of Defender thefts was up 34% to £2.1 million in 2019. At least four Defender thefts were reported every week in January. Although this fell during the lockdown, the number of thefts is rising sharply back to pre-Covid levels. “We’re warning people in the countryside to be on high alert,” said Rebecca Davidson, NFU Mutual rural affairs specialist.
